1. Introduction

EcomScout is a Chrome extension designed to provide analytics, product research, and technology insights for Shopify stores. We are committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring transparency about how your data is handled.

2. Data Collection

Personal Data:

EcomScout does not collect, sell, or share your personal data for marketing or advertising purposes. The extension may access your Chrome profile email solely to enable features such as saving favorite stores/products and to deduplicate API requests. This information is never shared with third parties.

Browsing Data:

EcomScout accesses the URL of your currently active tab only when you interact with the extension. This is used to detect Shopify stores and provide relevant analytics. The extension does not access your browsing history or other tabs.

Stored Data:

Any data you save (such as favorite products or stores) is stored locally in your browser using Chrome’s storage API. This data is not transmitted to any external server except when required to fetch analytics from our backend API.

3. Data Usage

• API Requests:

  EcomScout fetches store analytics and product data from a secure remote API. No executable code is loaded from the remote server; only data is retrieved and processed by the extension.

• User Preferences:

  Preferences and saved items are stored locally and are only accessible to you.

• No Tracking:

  EcomScout does not track your browsing activity or collect analytics about your usage of the extension.

4. Data Sharing

EcomScout does not share, sell, or disclose your personal information to third parties. All data processing is performed locally or via secure API requests necessary for the extension’s core functionality.
